Since its beginnings in 2005, Spearhead Records has been distributed by Nu Urban Music. Even before that, back in 2002, BCee took a bunch of tracks down to the Nu Urban office as a long shot to see if they would distribute for his first label Rubik Records. As it happens they were willing to give the label a shot and over the next few years Spearhead Records grew far more than we every expected.
Sadly as of last Tuesday Nu Urban Music has gone into administration. We are very thankful for all of the hard work that the entire team has put in for us over the last few years and wish the team luck as they search for new jobs. Spearhead Records wouldn’t be where is it without Nu Urban Music.
On a more positive note, we have already signed a new distribution deal with Southern Record Distributors, more commonly known as SRD. We are in the process of transferring the back catalogue over to the SRD warehouse and within the next few weeks all stock will be available again. All new releases will be coming out as usual but have been delayed by about 6 weeks due to the changeover.
We are quite excited about working with the team at SRD and can assure you that rather than this being the end for Spearhead Records, this is the start of a new chapter with a whole heap of projects currently in the pipeline.
The next Spearhead Records release will be the Remix The System sampler 12″ featuring BCee – Looking Glass feat. Shaz Sparks (Metrik Remix) / Beyond Belief (Technimatic Remix). This will quickly be followed by the full album release on CD and digital also featuring remixes from Octane & DLR, Mutated Forms, Logistics, Friction & K-Tee, Bladerunner, Hybrid Minds and more…
